Gevrik sat in the mercenary pavilion of the encampment. They were stationed on the western bank of a small river, with their enemy occupying a fort on the other side. Gevrik, along with all the other mercenaries had little stake in this fight at all, which meant the Frelian lord they were serving under took great care to make them happy serving under their banner. That specific banner was the banner of the Farcel family, and they were going to fight the Roson family. It didn't matter to Gevrik, or many of the other men.
Gevrik himself was enjoying a tall mug of whatever was being passed around. A few drinks ago it had been whiskey. A few more drinks and it might be vodka. There was no way of knowing really, not when you were so drunk that the only taste you were getting in your liquor was the alcohol. Gevrik was most definitely that level of drunk. They weren't to move until tomorrow at noon, and sometimes a hangover was helpful in his focus, which meant it had to be a good thing that he was getting this drunk. That, and he was always scared before a fight, no matter how large or small. So for that, Gevrik took a quick swig of the brown liquid in his mug, finishing it off, and held it out, waiting for it to be filled as his head lolled to his left shoulder.

After what had seemed like forever, Arco had finally made it to Frelia. From what he occasionally saw when he wasn't nodding off, the country was a lush, open field, which reminded him nothing of home. Before getting out of the wagon, the sergeant at arms yelled out his orders, "New recruits are to gather around the pavilion and get their orders from the mercenary's, the rest were to gather their things and set up the tents". Arco set out with the rest of the recruits. He noticed that most of the mercenary's where drinking, and the ones who didn't have a drink in their hands were passed out, snoring on benches. He caught a glimpse of a man with a purple sash around his left eye but immediately looked away. Arco being tired, sat down with the rest of the recruits and awaited orders.

Gevrik's mug was filled with more of whatever it was that was doing its job to get him drunk, and took a deep drink. The taste actually managed to break through to him for a moment, it was a fine Jehannan Bourbon. Not that it mattered to him, he was getting drunk, not pairing things with a meal. He took another gulp, his tongue growing numb enough once more that no tastes were triggered. Gevrik's head lolled to his right, and fro a moment he shut his eyes before a man began clapping at the center of the pavilion.
He was an incredibly tall red headed man, with wiry arms and a sword at his hip. "Good evening gentlemen, I trust you are having a night like you imagined?" A few mercenaries let out some sounds that could have been affirmations, and the man nodded, then continued, "It is time for you to receive your orders, The Band of the Hawk will ride with lord Farcei and his knights," a thin long haired man, clearly still sober and surrounded by men far rougher than he nodded. "The Shield Brothers will lead the infantry," a women with a nose that looked as if it had been broken three times and never healed properly nodded. "And all the new recruits are going to follow me, along with any independent sellswords, in an attack on the back of the fort tomorrow, so now, I will take my leave of you, please return to your drinking." There was some laughter as the man walked away, the conversation returning to matters that were of great import to mercenaries: coin, women, and drink.
Gevrik's mug was suddenly empty. He looked around, and saw no one with a wine skin or flagon coming around. He let his head fall back and called out, "Somebody get me a f****n' drink."
